BADOLATO
Badolato's birth dates back around the first half of the tenth century, at the behest of Robert Guiscard Duke of Calabria, who in 1080 decided to build "a peaceful village" where it already resided few huts of poor shepherds. The village from the beginning was eminently defensive purposes as confirmed by the city walls and castle dating from about the twelfth century, now no longer visible. Badolato in time became an important landmark for the surrounding area for religion because it attended by Basilian monks, Franciscans and Dominicans, which form numerous brotherhoods, still active and occupied in the management and care of the magnificent churches and convents built in the centuries. Badolato had national resonance for two events: in 1986 the mayor of the country declared Badolato country for sale, sparking the interest of the media, authors, writers and many tourists; after the landing of the Kurds in December 1997 Badolato has returned to have popularity for being the center of a rare experience of acceptance, coexistence, integration and respect among peoples belonging to different cultures. Just in the wake of that experience, Wim Wenders, director, screenwriter and film producer German, shot in the ancient village of Badolato the short film "The Fly".
